Description: Conduit SA-016 is a kitchen knife, 18 cm in length, made of sterling silver with a polished wooden handle. Examination of the material indicates the knife was likely produced in the year 1893 (although its actual age is difficult to determine due to its current temporal displacement - see Incident Report RC-2).
Known Effects: Wounds created using SA-016 appear to release waves of colored light, rather than blood. The light has been theorized to be atmospheric radiation from Dimension DSA-2. There seems to be no correlation between the color of the emitted light and the size or placement of the wound. Spectral imaging of various wound sites confirms that the light cycles through random assortments of color on the visible spectrum, as well as colors that cannot be perceived by the human eye.
SA-016 only exhibits these effects when used to cut human skin; in any other instance, it functions as an ordinary knife. As of 12/3/18, further testing of SA-016 is prohibited per RC protocol as the wounds created using this conduit do not heal, and test subjects wounded by SA-016 are suspected to become new conduits themselves over time.
UPDATE 1/27/24: Conduit now appears to exhibit limited time distortion effects, such as echo residue from previous usages of the knife. However, it is impossible to study these new effects until SA-016 is returned to RC custody. (See ADDENDUM 2 + Dr. Lariset’s WB-001 Research Report.)
Threat Level: SA-016 is capable of harm, but because its effects are isolated to those it wounds, it is designated a LEVEL 3 THREAT. (UPDATE 1/27/24: given the conduit’s unknown location and newly exhibited effects, this threat level is currently in consideration for redesignation - CK)
ADDENDUM: SA-016 is no longer in RC custody as of 1/6/20. For a full description of the containment breach and the list of conduits affected, refer to Incident Report RC-2.
ADDENDUM 2: SA-016 seems to have been observed by two civilians, Shaun Sanford and Tom Johnson (known online as “the Weird Brothers”) during their investigation of the abandoned Wickham Home for Wayward Boys in Hemlock, New Hampshire. Agents were dispatched to the location to retrieve the conduit, but the search was unsuccessful. SA-016’s current location remains unknown.
